Robert Fannin is an Irish author, playwright and lecturer currently working on an epic historical novel.

Sailing, writing and drawing are the three constants that have run through my life, keeping me buoyant, broke (sometimes) - but, for the most part, happy.

Born in Dublin in the 1950’s and expelled from school aged 15 I went to sea - fishing boats out of my home port of Howth, Co. Dublin. Trawlers led to yachts and after decades of wandering, from the high Arctic to the low Caribbean, I settled in Bristol, UK.

There I worked, painted and had a family, the rigours of which forced the discipline I needed to get down to writing. Plays and novels followed and in 2007 I went back to school – the University of the West of England (UWE), to study Drama and English. In 2011 I received a master’s from Falmouth University. I now lecture at UWE in Creative Writing.
